Spring Break

ree

Sitting on the wall

Cars pouring by like sugar from a C & H Box

Just inching along, block by block

A Mustang, a Barracuda, there’s a GTO

Oh baby, let’s go

Standing on the corner

Night is warming up

Young girls’ flirty eyes

Checking them out as they drive by

My Little Red Book on the radio

Jump in a car and go, go, go

A laugh and a giggle, a little tease

The ride lasts just a block or so

Drop us on the next corner if you please

Strolling down the avenue, short shorts riding high

Life is truly the most wonderful game

All these boy-full cars streaming by

Different makes and models, none of them the same

The music of the time is filling the air

What will it be?

Turn, Turn, Turn or I Want Candy?

We had no idea at the time

That life was not always this frivolous

For that moment that we held court

Over the week that we thought would never end

We relished in the freedom that only youth can spend

Spend with abandon, letting our pleasure flow

Flow like a giddy river down a one-way street

In an age, that was so long ago

It was 1965, Spring Break

Palm Springs, CA

We were so young
